Archaeological Sites

The Malé Karpaty Mountains in western Slovakia near Smolenice Castle contain a forested hill called Molpír. On top of the hill is the historic fortified place.

Instructive path leads to this archaeological site. In the 7th century BC people of Kalenderberg culture came to the strategically important hill on the edge of the Malé Karpaty Mountains and built a fortified place there. Its area is 12 ha (29 ac). It consisted of three courtyards, two forecastles and acropolis. Existence of this fortified site abruptly finished in the 6th century BC by a not specified disaster.

Instructive path leads from the church in village Smolenice to Molpír. The hikers get nice view of the Smolenice castle while ascending to Molpír.
