ZOO Spi?ská Nová Ves

The ZOO is situated near the National Park of Slovenský raj (Slovak Paradise) and is considered as one of the most beautiful zoos in Slovakia.

The ZOO lies in the pleasant setting of the municipal park and it is the favourite place for relaxation. The area is coated with broadleaved forest and it has a water body. Its area is 8 hectares (19.77 acres) and is open since 1989.

There are more than 220 animals representing almost 70 species kept in this ZOO. The ZOO of Spišská Nová Ves specialises in breeding of exotic animals, waterfowl and the African ostrich.

In May 2008, there was a grand opening of new breeding facility for the Ussurian tiger. The facility is one one of the biggest ones; it is open, sets in the slope with a glass front and pool.
